Kristina Janssen, 17, and her horse, Child's
Play, just returned from the North American Young Rider Championships
held at Tempel Farms in Wadsworth, Illinois from August 10th to 15th.
Her team of 4 riders, representing AREA 1 (all of New England and New
York State) placed 3rd in the CCI/J* competition. 10 AREAS of the
United States, Mexico and Canada were represented at the competition.
A CCI* is an Eventing competition consisting of
3 phases held on different days - Dressage, Endurance and Stadium
Jumping. Endurance includes Road & Track, Steeplechase and Cross
Country. Horses and riders who compete in this type of
event need to be well-rounded athletes to be able to do well in all
3 disciplines.

Kristina's teamates were Alexi Wikstrom, Ariel Gral and Mike Robbins.
Sydney Olympian, Robert Costello was the Team Coach and Joe Silva,
the Team Coordinator.
This is a very exciting experience because it is the first
exposure that many riders have to the process of becoming a member of
a team representing the US at International competitions, such as the
Olympics or the Pan American games.
Congratulations to Kristina, Child's Play and
her teammates.
